Sofía Vergara was born on 10 July 1972 in Barranquilla, Atlántico, Colombia to Margarita Vergara Dávila de Vergara, a homemaker, and Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, a cattle rancher for the meat industry.
Vergara had four siblings Sandra Vergara, Rafael Vergara, Veronica Vergara, and Julio Vergara. In 1998, her elder brother Rafael was murdered in Colombia in an attempt to kidnap him.
