The wait is finally over. The most awaited movie is set to release. The sequel of the 2001 blockbuster film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is ready to hit the floors.
The sequel is named Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, it is an upcoming 2023 Indian Hindi-language period action-drama film. The film is directed by Anil Sharma, who also directed Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.
Story
As we have seen in the Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Sunny Deol’s character Tara Singh, went to Pakistan to bring his Pakistani-Muslim wife Sakina ” Sakku” Ali (Ameesha Patel) and son Charanjeet “Jeete” Singh (Utkarsh Sharma) back home.
In this part, Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, Tara Singh returns to Pakistan to bring his son, Charanjeet, back home. The plot is set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Announcement
Zee Studio, Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma had officially announced Gadar 2: The Katha Continues on 15 October 2021 on the occasion of Dusshera on their social media accounts and revealed the release date with a motion poster in 2022.
Casting
As previously, Deol was offered the role of Tara Singh. Patel was offered the role of Tara Singh’s wife Sakeena. The role of the son was offered to Charanjeet “Jeete” Singh.
Nimrat Khaira was offered the role of Charanjeet Singh Muskaan’s love interest in September 2021. She rejected the offer after 2020–21. of the protest of the Indian farmers. She also claimed that Zee Studio and Bollywood were against the farmers’ protest, therefore she will not work in any film offered by Bollywood. After Khaira turned down the role, Simi Chahal was offered the same role but also turned it down due to protests. Wamiqa Gabbi also refused the role of Muskaan. Kainaat Arora reportedly refused categorically the role of Gadar 2. Finally, the producers cast Simrat Kaur for the role.
Manish Wadhwa was offered the role of a Pakistani army general in the film. Rohit Choudhary was also given the role of a Pakistani army general in the film. Luv Sinha and Gaurav Chopra also played important roles.
First Poster
In 2022, the motion poster of the movie Gadar 2 was released. In this poster, Sunny Deo wears a black kurta-pajama and wears a turban. He is also seen holding a big hammer and this poster also says Hindustan Zindabad, the poster has Sunny Deol as an angry man.
Budegt
According to the report, the production budget of Gadar 2 is 40 crores and 10 crores will be used for printing and promotion. So, the total cost is 50 crores.
Music
The music of the film is composed by Mithoon and the lyrics are written by Sayeed Quadri.
Release Date
Previously, the movie was set to release at theaters in India on 26th January 2024 coinciding with Indian Republic Day Weekend. The date was written on the first poster of the sequel titled ‘Gadar 2’.
But later the movie is preponed to be released on 11 August 2023.
Controversy
The filming of the movie started in Himachal, where a house was rented for filming and staying in the movie, the owner of the same house accused the filmmakers of not paying the rent properly, which was an agreement to pay 11 thousand per day. The home owner demanded 56 lakhs for the matter.
