Sneha Rana is an Indian cricketer. She plays for Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League and Railways. She is a right-arm off-break bowler and right-handed batter.
Sneha Rana Personal Life
Sneha was born on 18th February 1994 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India to Bhagwan Singh, a farmer, and Vimla Rana. Sneha’s father died in 2021, at the age of 61, due to a cariad arrest. She has an elder sister Ruchi Rana.
Sneha’s father did not have enough money to support her coaching but still, he allowed her to take coaching in the cricket academy and encouraged her to pursue her dreams. Her father used to cycle 10 km daily to drop her at the academy.
Sneha Rana Career
At the age of 9, Sneha’s natural talent impressed coaches Narinder and Kiran who went to Sneha’s house and convinced her father to let her join a cricket academy.
During her U-14 and U-19 matches, she was a fast bowler but later coach Narendra Shah advised her to switch to off-spin as he was impressed by her off-cutters.
She was selected to play for the Haryana team. However, the state did not give her many chances and she decided to move to Amritsar.
In 2014, she made her Women’s One Day International and Women’s Twenty20 International debut against Sri Lanka.
In 2016, due to a knee injury, she was dropped from the team and did not play international cricket for another five years.
In May 2021, she was selected for India’s Test squad for their one-off match against the England women’s cricket team. On 16 June 2021, she made her Test debut for India against England.
In July 2022, she was named to India’s team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
In 2023, she was selected by Gujarat Giants in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League.
