This action was taken under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as part of an investigation into the possession of undeclared foreign currency. The 69-year-old businessman, who is the promoter of the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturing company, had his residential and business properties in Delhi and Gurugram, along with connected entities, searched by officials.
The ED initiated the searches immediately after registering a case against the accused under the PMLA. In response to the situation, the company stated that ED officials had visited two of their offices and the residence of their executive chairman, Pawan Munjal, and affirmed their full cooperation with the agency. The ED’s case against Pawan Munjal is based on a complaint filed by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
