Jhulan Goswami is an Indian female cricket. She is one of the fastest female bowlers of all time. Her biopic movie Chakda Xpress is all set to release on Netflix.
Jhulan Goswami Early Life
Jhulan was born on 25th November 1982 in Chakdaha, West Bengal, India to a middle-class family. Her parents are Nisith Goswami and Jharna Goswami.
Jhulan began playing cricket at the age of 15. She began to take interest in cricket when she watched the 1992 Cricket World Cup on TV. As there were no cricket facilities in Chakdaha at the time, she used to travel to Kolkata to play cricket.
Jhulan Goswami Career
After completing her training in Kolkata, Goswami was called up to the Bengal women’s cricket team. In 2002, Jhulan made her international debut at the age of 19 in a one-day International Match against England in Chennai.
On 14th January 2002, she made her Test debut against England in Lucknow. In the 2006-07 season, Jhulan and Mithali Raj guided the Indian Women’s Cricket team to their first Test series win in England.
In 2007, Jhulan was selected in the Asian squad in the Afro-Asia tournament in India and won the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year.
In 2008, she became the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team until 2011.
In May 2017, she became the leading wicket-taker in ODIs when she took her 181st wicket against South Africa. In the same year, she was part of the Indian team to reach the final of the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup where the team lost to England by nine runs.
In February 2018, she became the first bowler to take 200 wickets in WODIs. On 7 February 2018, she became the first woman cricketer to reach 200 wickets in one-day cricket.
In November 2020, she was nominated for the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Decade award.
In January 2022, she was named to India’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. In September 2022, Jhulan retired from international cricket with her final match coming against England at Lord’s, with India winning by 16 runs

Chakda Xpress, the biopic of Jhulan Goswami, starring Anushka Sharma, directed by Prosit Roy, is all set to release on Netflix in 2023. Jhulan is the second Indian female cricketer to have a biopic following Mithali Raj’s biopic Shabaash Mithu.
