Ira’s father, Vishwapati Trivedi, is an IAS officer of the 1977 batch of the Madhya Pradesh cadre. He was a former chairman of Indian Airlines. Her mother’s name is Mona. Her grandmother is author Kranti Trivedi.

After her husband Madhu Mantena publicly announced his upcoming marriage to Ira Trivedi in April 2023, she revealed that they had been dating for over a decade. He had earlier proposed to her, but she declined the proposal, citing concerns about caste, age and cultural differences. After that, Madhu Mantena married fashion designer Masaba Gupta, but their marriage ended in divorce. Eventually, fate brought Madhu and Ira together again, leading to their eventual marriage.

Trivedi began practicing yoga while studying at Wellesley College. Trivedi graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in economics in 2006. She holds an MBA from Columbia University. She completed her Acharya training at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center.
Career
Based on her experiences in the Miss India pageant, Trivedi wrote her debut fiction novel What Would You Do to Save the World?: Signs You Could Be a Beauty Queen at the age of 19, which the Deccan A Herald book review described it as: “An entertaining debut novel that reveals the dust behind the diamonds, the tears behind the plastic smiles and washes away the dirt of what really goes on behind the scenes of a beauty pageant.”
The Great Indian Love Story was published in 2009 and is described by The Hindu as “set in modern India where emotions are dominated by materialistic pleasures” and “a combination of love, sex, revenge, friendship, power and crime”.
Her fictional novel Wall Street Has No Love (2011) featured investment bankers, with Ahmed Faiyaz writing in a Deccan Herald review: “Ira tells it like it is. In the DNA review, Jayeeta Mazumder writes about the protagonist. a confused Indian who hates her” Indianness”. ‘ is a high life-sucker and his ultimate redemption through writing is almost forced. In 2014, Trivedi wrote an essay titled “Love Me Do” published in Outlook, in which Firstpost said that “India is in the grip of a great sexual revolution”. According to Gargi Gupta of DNA India, Trivedi “reached out to students in schools and colleges all over the world. India, married, pre-married, same-sex or cohabiting couples, their parents and guardians, marriage counsellors, astrologers, divorce lawyers and moral advocates to give a holistic an image of that revolution which lifts the veil of many centuries of oppression.”
In 2016, she published a book of short stories titled Gumrah: 11 Short Teen Crime Stories based on the television series Gumrah: End of Innocence. Published the novel Nikhil and Riya in 2017.
In 2017, she published The 10-Minute Yoga Solution. She co-authored The Desi Guide to Dating with Şahin Bhatia, published in 2019.
In 2020, she published Om the Yoga Dog, a children’s book about yoga, simple asanas, and helpful breathing techniques.
She is the founder of the non-profit organization Namami Yoga, the mobile app Ira Yoga Wellness and the online yoga studio Yog Love.s He has written for The Hindu, Deccan Chronicle, The Telegraph, Times of India, and Outlook. Trivedi often speaks on topics related to gender, women, and youth.
