Ira’s father, Vishwapati Trivedi, is an IAS officer of the 1977 batch of the Madhya Pradesh cadre. He was a former chairman of Indian Airlines. Her mother’s name is Mona. Her grandmother is author Kranti Trivedi.

Trivedi began practicing yoga while studying at Wellesley College. Trivedi graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in economics in 2006. She holds an MBA from Columbia University. She completed her Acharya training at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center.

Career

Based on her experiences in the Miss India  pageant, Trivedi wrote her debut fiction novel What Would You Do to Save the World?: Signs You Could Be a Beauty Queen at the age of 19, which the Deccan A Herald book review described it as: “An entertaining debut novel that reveals the dust behind the diamonds, the tears behind the plastic smiles and washes away the dirt of what really goes on behind the scenes of a beauty pageant.”

The Great Indian Love Story was published in 2009 and is described by The Hindu as “set in modern India where emotions are dominated by materialistic pleasures” and “a combination of love, sex, revenge, friendship, power and crime”.

Her fictional novel Wall Street Has No Love (2011) featured investment bankers, with Ahmed Faiyaz writing in a Deccan Herald review: “Ira tells it like it is.
