Deandre Ayton was born on 23^rd July 1998 in Nassau, Bahamas to Andrea Ayton and Alvin Ayton. His father is Nigerian and his mother is of Jamaican and Bahamian heritage. Deandre has four siblings- Edward Jr, Andrew, Tiann, and Serenity.

On June 21, 2018, Ayton was selected by the Phoenix Suns as the first overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He was the franchise’s first #1 in its history. He joined the 2018 NBA Summer League Suns on July 1, 2018, and signed his entry-level contract five days later. In his Summer League debut on July 6, he had 10 points and 8 rebounds in a 92–85 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Ayton debuted in the NBA season opener on October 17, 2018, posting a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 6 assists, an assist, and a block in 36 minutes of action. started with a 121-100 win over the Dallas Mavericks. On July 18, 2022, Ayton signed a multi-year contract with the Suns. He became the first player to score at least 28 points and grab 20 rebounds in a Suns game since Amar’e Stoudemire in 2007.
