Andy Allen was born on 30 April 1988 in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. His father’s name is Peter Allen, he was a teacher at Bolwarra Public School. Peter was also the primary cricket convenor for the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association.
Allen began his career as an electrician. He also used to play basketball with the Maitland Mustangs. He also volunteered to work on extensions to his local basketball stadium.

He returned as a professional secret chef in Season 11 and lost to Sandeep Pandit in the Immunity Pin Challenge with a perfect score of 30. His results were kept secret but were revealed on Facebook, which was 24.
Allen pursued a career in hospitality. He now co-owns the Three Blue Ducks restaurant with five locations in Australia, in Bronte, Rosebery, and Byron Bay in NSW, and in Brisbane and Melbourne. In 2018, his restaurant was awarded the Chef’s Hat, making Allen the first MasterChef Australia contestant to receive the highly sought-after honor.
In October 2019, he was announced as one of three new MasterChef judges, replacing George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan, and Matt Preston. In 2021, he appeared in Australia as the host of the traveling cooking show Three Blue Ducks to find inspiration for new dishes to appear on the restaurant’s permanent menu.
On May 7, 2023, Allen cried on The Project and bravely spoke about his friend and fellow judge Jock Zonfrillo in a heartbreaking special edition of the show. He spoke eloquently in an emotional episode where he delivered a message from Jock’s wife Lauren and revealed he had dinner with Jock on Saturday, the day before he died.
