Sophia Dunkley is an English cricketer who plays for the England women’s cricket team. She is the first black woman to play Test cricket for England. In 2023, she was bought by Gujarat Giants for the Women’s Premier League.

Sophia was born on 16th July 1998 in Lambeth, London, England. She was raised by her mother who was a single parent in North London.

Initially, she played at Finchley Cricket Club and later switched to Middlesex.
Domestic Career
In 2012, she made her debut for Middlesex 2012 in a Twenty20 Cup match against Sussex. She was awarded as the club’s Player of the Year award in 2017 and 2019. In 2020, she joined Surrey.
International Career
In 2018, she made her international debut in England’s second game against Bangladesh but did not bat or bowl.
In June 2021, Dunkley was named in England’s Test squad. On 16th June 2021, she made her Test debut for England against India. She also became the first black woman to play Test cricket for England.
On 27 June 2021, she made her WODI debut for England, against India.
Premier Leagues
She played every season of the Women’s Cricket Super League, from 2016 to 2018 for Surrey Stars, and in 2019, she played for Lancashire Thunder.
In 2020, she played two games for the South East Stars in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
In 2021, she was drafted by Southern Brave for the inaugural season of The Hundred. In 2022, she was bought by the Southern Brave for the 2022 season of The Hundred.
In February 2023, she was bought by Gujarat Giants for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League, at a price of ₹60 Lakhs.
