She then addressed the show’s musical director, Chong Lim, who was of Malaysian origin, asking about his family, stating, “How’s the family, Chong? All right?” Channel 7 later issued an apology for her statement.
On 18 July 2016, during an appearance on the morning show Today, Kruger called for a complete ban on Muslims entering Australia, expressing agreement with an opinion piece written by commentator Andrew Bolt. Kruger defended her comments by stating that she believed it was important in a democratic society to be able to discuss such issues without being labeled racist. However, it should be noted that the firebombing of a Perth radio station, initially linked to the presenters disagreeing with Kruger’s views in media reports, was later determined by the police to be coincidental and unrelated to the Islam discussion.
