Career
Lewis Capaldi, In 2014, took part in a three-day tour as part of the Scottish Music Center’s Hit the Road project. He played in Dumfries, Edinburgh and Fort William with Jacob, Rory Green, and Zoë Bestel. When he was 18, he was discovered by his manager Ryan Walter based on an iPhone recording in his bedroom and uploaded to his SoundCloud account. The day after Walter contacted Capaldi, he flew from America to the UK to hear Capaldi live. In 2016, Capaldi graduated with a degree in music from New College, Lanarkshire, Motherwell.
He independently released his first single, “Bruises,” on March 31, 2017. The track quickly amassed nearly 28 million streams worldwide on Spotify, making him the fastest unsigned artist ever to reach 25 million plays on the platform. The song was later re-released as a single in 2019, peaking at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart.
He supported English singer-songwriters Rag’n’Bone Man and Jake Bugg during their tours in autumn 2017.
In January 2018, he joined Germany’s Milky Chance on the North American leg of their Blossom tour. On February 23, his collaboration “Rush” with Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez was released. Irish singer Niall Horan invited Capaldi to support him on two dates on his Flicker World Tour at SEC Armadillo in Glasgow in March.
Breach’s “Someone You Loved” became Capaldi’s breakout single, charting in 29 countries. During their 2019 tour with Bastille, the song reached number one in the UK Singles Chart and stayed there for 7 weeks. It also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first Scottish solo artist to top the US charts since Sheena Easton in 1981. The song received a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. According to IFPI, the song was the 9th biggest single worldwide of 2019.

In March 2021, Capaldi announced that he was postponing all future appearances to work on his upcoming sophomore album. His frozen pizza range Big Sexy Pizza was also released later that month in the UK supermarkets Iceland and TescoIn April 2023, his documentary How I’m Feeling Now was released on Netflix.
