Jo Squillo was born on 22 June 1962 in Milan, Italy.
She made her debut as a representative of the Italian punk movement. Her first recording was in 1980 on the Cramps label, for which she released 45 rounds of I’m Bad/Horror as a member of the all-female group Kandeggina Gang. The name was chosen to symbolize the radical purity that the group proposed to do with musical tradition. Previously formed in the Social Center Santa Marta in Milan, the group is characterized by strong anti-sex accents, which they did not fail to repeat during their live performances, such as in March 1980, when they threw red impure Tampax tablets in front of a shocked audience in Milan’s Piazza Duomo.
