Jess Jonassen is an Australian cricketer who currently plays for the International Australia Women’s team, and Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). She is a left-arm orthodox bowling all-rounder.
Jess Jonassen Personal Life
Jess was born on 5 November 1992 in Emerald, Queensland, Australia to Ray Jonassen and Jane Jonassen. She has a sister Laura Jonassen. Jess began playing cricket at the age of 10. She played in boys’ teams, at that time, as there were no girls-only cricket programs in rural Queensland.
Jess Jonassen Career
On 12th January 2012, she made her international cricket debut in a Twenty20 match against New Zealand. On 25th January 2012, she made her One Day International debut against New Zealand.
Jonassen made her Test debut at the St Lawrence Ground during the 2015 Women’s Ashes. On 22 February 2016, Jonassen achieved her first five-wicket haul in ODI cricket.
In January 2022, she was selected to Australia’s squad for their series against England to contest the Women’s Ashes. In May 2022, she was selected to Australia’s team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
Premier League
Jess played for Queensland Fire in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) during the 2008–09 season. Jess signed with Brisbane Heat at the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) team, as a marquee player for the competition’s inaugural season.
In 2023, she was bought by the Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

In February 2018, Jess engaged to partner Sarah Gooderham. The couple planned to marry in May 2020 but postponed their wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
