Jamie Foxx is the son of Darrell Bishop (renamed Shahid Abdula following his conversion to Islam), who sometimes worked as a stockbroker, and Mother Louise Annette Talley Dixon.

In 2013, Foxx was cast as President James Sawyer in the White House alongside Channing Tatum. The following year, Foxx appeared as the villain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and co-starred with Quvenzhané Wallis in Annie, Sony’s Will Smith and Jay-Z made an update of the comic book musical.
In 2017, Foxx played Bats, a trigger-happy gang member in Edgar Wright’s action film Baby Driver.
Foxx’s October 2014 Deja Vu duet with Dionne Warwick appears on Warwick’s Feels So Good album.
In 2015, Foxx’s voice was featured in Ariana Grande’s song “Focus” in the chorus.
