Gitanjali Aiyar passed away on June 7, 2023, at the age of 71. Passed away on Wednesday afternoon from a brain hemorrhage.
Close friends said Aiyar, who suffered from Parkinson’s disease, died after collapsing while returning home from a walk. Aiyer’s close friend and fellow journalist Sumita Paul told the media that she received first aid.
