Daisy May Cooper is an English actress and writer. She was the winner of the 2018 BAFTA TV Award for Best Female Comedy Performance for playing Kerry Mucklowe in the BBC Three series This Country, which she co-created and co-wrote with her younger brother, Charlie Cooper.

One of Daisy May Cooper’s earliest roles was in ITV’s Doc Martin, where she played a young mother. In an interview with the New York Post, Daisy May Cooper revealed that she’d auditioned to be a stripper during her late teens and was financially struggling. She said that she auditioned to be a stripper when she was about 18 or 19 and “really poor.” She remarked how bleak it was and said she was working as a cleaner at the time and only earned around £100 a month.
After the ITV series Doc Martin, she returned to Läänemaa and worked as a cleaner with her brother Charlie. For a while, the siblings lived together – their experiences later became part of the writings of this country.
In 2014, she was cast as PC Garvey in the TV series The Wrong Mans. A pilot (never released) based on the Coopers’ original series was filmed for ITV in the same year as Kerry’s film, which formed the basis of This Country. She wrote and starred alongside her brother Charlie in the BBC Three comedy series This Country, for which she won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Female Comedy Performance in 2018.
Due to the success of the first series in this country, a second series was commissioned and broadcast on BBC Three in February 2018. The third series aired in 2020. In 2019, she played Peggotty in The Personal History of David Copperfield, and in 2020, she starred in Armando Iannucci’s HBO comedy Avenue 5. She also appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox with her father Paul. On 29 July 2020, Cooper appeared in the tenth series of Taskmaster.
In 2022, she played one of the two main characters in the TV series The Witchfinder. In 2023, she appeared as “The Otter” in the fourth series of “The Masked Singer”. In the same year, she plays the lead role of Costello in HBO’s Rain Dogs. The show is helmed by prominent playwright and screenwriter Cash Carraway, who’s best known for BBC’s L’Opera del Lavoratore.

Cooper married her longtime boyfriend Will Weston on September 21, 2019. The couple has two children, a daughter, Pip, and a son, born in October 2020, named Jack Michael Weston, in honor of their late friend and This Country co-star Michael Slegg, who died in 2019 after a battle with terminal cancer. In July 2021, it was reported that Cooper had separated from her husband 10 months after the birth of their son.
