Nanni Moretti is an Italian film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor.  In 2002, he organized street demonstrations against the government of Silvio Berlusconi Il caimano (2006) partly deals with the Berlusconi conflict: in one of the three portraits of the Italian prime minister, Moretti portrays Berlusconi himself.

Nanni Moretti Personal Life

Nanni Moretti was born on 19 August 1953 in Bruneck, South Tyrol, Italy to Luigi Moretti, a Greek teacher at Sapienza University of Rome, and Agata Apicella Moretti, a teacher. He has a brother Franco Moretti who is a literary scholar.

Growing up, Moretti discovered his two passions, cinema and water polo. After completing his studies, he pursued a career as a producer and directed his first two short films in 1973: Paté de bourgeois and The Defeat (La sconfitta).
