Lisa Rinna was born on 11 July 1963 in Newport Beach, California, United States to Lois Irene and Frank Rinna. When Lisa was 7 years old, her family moved to Medford, Oregon when her father was transferred there for work-related reasons, and she spent the rest of her childhood there. During this time, her elder half-sister Laurene passed away.
On 15 November 2021, Lisa announced that her mother, Lois, who appeared on The Real Housewives, died after suffering a stroke.

Lisa began her career by doing commercial modeling. In 1998, Rinna, who was six months pregnant with Delilah Belle Hamlin, the first of Harry Hamlin and her two daughters, posed nude for the September issue of Playboy magazine. She later recounted the instructions given by Playboy photographer Deborah Anderson: “I don’t want you to be tall and tough, angular and muscular. I want you to be soft…” It was hard for her because she was 35 and she was posing. For Playboy, you want to tough it out.”

At age 21, Rinna appeared in the music video for John Parr’s single “Naughty Naughty” as a passenger in Parr’s car. Later, Rinna made her television debut appearing as the girlfriend of Jason Bateman’s character in several episodes of Hogan Family in 1990. In 1992, she first gained national recognition when she originated the role of Billie Reed on NBC’s Days of Our Lives. Her character was an instant hit with viewers, earning Rinna two soap opera awards in a row. She resigned in 1995 but continued in the role in 2002, 2012, and 2018. She then jumped into television in the best possible way, portraying Taylor McBride on Aaron Spelling’s Melrose Place from 1996 to 1998.

Rinna hosted Soap Talk, a daily lifestyle show on the cable network Soapnet from 2002 to 2006. She and co-host Ty Treadway received four consecutive Daytime Emmy nominations for their work. At the same time, Rinna hosted Lifetime’s home exchange show Merge for three seasons. In 2007, she also hosted the reality hairstyling competition series Oxygen’s Tease. From 2007 to 2009, she hosted TV Guide Network’s awards season red carpet coverage, replacing Joan Rivers.
In 2006, Rinna competed in the second season of Dancing with the Stars along with professional dancer Louis van Amstel. In 2008, TV Guide reported that Rinna and Hamlin signed a deal for a reality series based on their family life. The series titled Harry Loves Lisa premiered on the channel on October 6, 2010, and ran for 6 episodes. In 2010, she also appeared as a guest judge in the fourth episode of the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. In 2011, Rinna competed in the fourth season of The Celebrity Apprentice. Lisa Rinna and her husband Harry Hamlin previously owned the Belle Gray clothing store in Sherman Oaks, California, but closed it in 2012 due to their busy acting careers. In June 2019, Rinna started a collaboration with Goldsheep to create activewear, with proceeds benefiting The Trevor Project, an organization that offers crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth.
