Gufi Paintal was born as Sarabjeet Singh Paintal on October 4, 1944, in Tarn Taran, Punjab, British India. He was welcomed into this world by his photographer Gurucharan Paintal and his mother, whose name is yet to be released.
Moreover, he grew up with his brother Kanwarjit Paintal, who is an Indian comedian and actor. The siblings were born into a Sikh family.

Gufi Paintal was married to Rekha Paintal the actor was happily married to his doting and supportive wife, Rekha Paintal. The couple were together for over two decades until Gufi Paintal’s wife, Rekha demise in 1993. When she died of a heart attack, Gufi was broken and broken, but he never remarried.

Early Career
Gufi Originally trained as an engineer, he joined the Indian Army during the Afro-Indian War in 1962. A folk play called Ramlila was held on the border where he played the role of Sita, which sparked his interest in acting.
Acting Career
Gufi came to Bombay, where his younger brother Paintal (who studied at the Film and Television Institute of India) tried his hand at acting. Arriving in Bombay in 1969, Gufi began to model, worked as an assistant director in films and acted in various films and serials. He also guided his brother. His most famous role is Mama (maternal uncle) Shakuni B.R. In the Mahabharat adaptation. Chopra and his son Ravi Chopra, which Paintal himself acknowledged as his best role. He was so associated with his character Shakuni in India that Paintal hosted a political talk show in the character of Shakuni on the news channel Sahara Samay.
Achievement
Gufi Paintal directed the film Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, which depicts the life of 16th-century Krishna devotee Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is recognized as an incarnation of God by followers of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. The film is produced by Pawan Kumar and music is composed by Ravindra Jain.In 2010, he was appointed Head of Department at Abbhinnay Acting Academy in Mumbai, a school founded by his Mahabharata co-star Pankaj Dheer.

Cause Of Death
Gufi Paintal died on 5 June 2023 in a Mumbai hospital due to age-related complications.
Gufi’s son Harry Paintal broke the news in a message that said: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the sad passing of our father Mr. Gufi Paintal (Shakuni Mama). He passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by his family.
