Helene Fischer is a Russian-born German singer. She won 17 Echo Awards, seven times the “Golden Hen” award, and four times the “Krone der Volksmusik” award. All of her albums and DVDs went multiple gold and double platinum.
Helene Fischer Personal Life
Helene Fischer was born on 5 August 1984 in Krasnoyarsk, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union to Pyotr, a physical education teacher, and Marina Fischer, an engineer. Helene has an elder sister who is 6 and a half years elder than Helene.
Her grandparents were Black Sea Germans who were sent to forced labor camps in Kazakhstan and Siberia. In 1988, at the age of three and a half, she moved with her family to Wöllstein, West Germany.
Helene Fischer Career
While studying at a theater and music school, Fischer’s mother secretly copied a demo CD containing six of her songs and sent it to various recording studios to gauge the reactions of professionals. Fischer’s debut on the stage took place on May 14, 2005, in the program of the television channel ARD. It was a duet with singer Florian Silbereisen. They later became a couple.
She won 17 Echo Awards, seven times the “Golden Hen” award, and four times the “Krone der Volksmusik” award. All of her albums and DVDs went multiple gold and double platinum. Her songs, with their tales of the daily woes and worries of home-loving folk, are lyrically close to what you might call “country”, though musically quite different.

She released her first album in English, The English Ones, on 7 June 2010. The album was produced by Jean Frankfurter, a German producer, composer, and arranger. Regarding singing in English, Fischer commented, “I’ve always dreamed of singing my songs in another language. English is the language of the country, the music we call ‘Schlager’. A Language is a tool, but it’s important that what you sing comes from the heart – and that’s what this album is about.”

The album debuted at number one on the album charts in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, and reached the top ten in the Netherlands and the Flemish region of Belgium. In Germany, Helene Fischer sold more than 300,000 copies in its first week of release, making it the best-selling debut since Herbert Grönemeyer’s 2002 album Mensch. It went nine platinum in Germany and Austria and has sold over a million copies in both countries to date. She performed all her new songs and several hits from previous albums at the Kesselhaus in Munich, and released the album Helene Fischer – Das Konzert aus dem Kesselhaus, which showcases that performance.
