On 15 February 2023, an Indian-American politician in the United States Nikki Haley announced on Twitter that she will run for the 2024 Presidential elections. She is a "The Republican" politician and former UN Ambassador. 

The former United Nations ambassador, announced her candidacy for president, becoming the first major challenger to former President Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican nomination.

Nikki Haley, 51, is the first in a long line of Republicans who are expected to launch 2024 campaigns in the coming months.

Nikki was first elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2004, she served three terms.

 Haley became the first female governor of South Carolina, the youngest governor in the country, and the second governor of Indian descent.

She was the first female governor of Asian American heritage.

In 2017, Nikki became the first Indian American member of a presidential cabinet.

Nikki has regularly spoken about her track record of defying political expectations, saying, “I’ve never lost an election, and I’m not going to start now."

If elected, Haley would be the nation’s first female president and the first U.S. president of Indian descent.
