Bella Hadid’s Painful Battle with Lyme Disease

Bella Hadid has shared a recent update on her ongoing battle with Lyme disease, which she was first diagnosed with in 2013. In an Instagram post on August 6th, the 26-year-old model expressed her determination not to give up as she continues to work on improving her health.

Throughout her journey with Lyme disease treatments, Bella has been open about her struggles. She acknowledged her mother, Yolanda Hadid, who was also diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012, for providing support and keeping track of her medical records.

Living with Lyme disease has taken a toll on Bella, leading to sadness and sickness despite the blessings, privilege, opportunity, and love surrounding her. However, she assured her fans that she is doing okay and they need not worry about her.

Bella believes that going through treatment has shaped her into who she is today. She wouldn’t change anything because it brought her to this moment of finally being healthy and able to spread love and be her true self.

In her Instagram post, Bella shared photos of medical records dating back to 2013, revealing some of her symptoms, such as extreme exhaustion, muscle and joint aches, and chest pain. She also uploaded pictures of herself with IV needles and multiple sensors attached to her body. Despite the seemingly distressing nature of these images, Bella described them as “positive” as they represent the most enlightening experience of her life.

Bella expressed her gratitude to her team, agents, doctors, and nurses for their support. She promised her fans that she would return to the runway when she’s ready, as she misses them and loves them dearly.

Lyme disease also affects other members of the Hadid family, with Bella’s mother and younger brother, Anwar Hadid, also dealing with chronic Lyme disease.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted through tick bites, and it’s most common in grassy or wooded areas. It can lead to multiple symptoms that appear in three different stages.
